PayU
PayU is a payment service provider (PSP) focused on emerging markets, processing
online payments across India, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, Africa,
and Turkey. It is built around local payment methods and card acquiring in
regions where alternative payment methods often outweigh cards, making it useful
for merchants selling into markets where global gateways have limited reach.
Because PayU has grown through acquisition, it offers several distinct
integration types — Shuttle supports two of them and connects to PayU using API
credentials.
At a glance
Where it operates
Merchants can onboard PayU in the following countries:
Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Czechia, Hungary, India, Kenya, Mexico,
Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Poland, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Turkey.
Payment methods
Through our PayU integration, merchants can accept:
- Cards: Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, and Diners Club
The exact card networks available depend on the integration type and country.
The REST API integration and the Single Platform Payment Engine product process
Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro; South Africa adds American Express and Diners
Club; Turkey adds American Express; and India adds American Express, Diners Club,
and a hosted payment page. PayU offers a wide range of local and alternative
payment methods in its own products, but our integration is a card-acquiring
integration and does not surface those methods. Apple Pay and Google Pay are not
supported, as our PayU integration does not use network tokens.
