Payment Configuration
Payment Configuration is your central hub for managing how your organization accepts payments. Here you can connect multiple payment processors, fine-tune their settings, and create a customized checkout experience for your customers. Whether you're setting up for the first time or optimizing an existing configuration, this section provides the tools to control which payment methods appear, when they're available, and how they behave - all without processing test transactions.
When you first access payment configuration, you'll be asked whether you have an existing payment processor or need a new one. In test/sandbox environments, we offer a sandbox gateway option for testing without needing a real payment processor account.
Connecting a Payment Processor
In live environments, we'll prompt new users to set up either Stripe or PayPal accounts as they're the quickest to onboard. By selecting "I have an existing payment provider," you can access our general availability payment processors.
We also support additional payment providers on request that won't appear in the standard list. To access these, contact our support team. See our payment processors documentation for the full list of available providers.
You can connect multiple payment providers as needed. The available providers are filtered by your selected country - changing countries will show different relevant options. Providers marked as "Recommended" are our premium integrations with high transaction volumes and close partnerships. Those marked "Beta" are fully operational and supported but newer to our platform.
Connection Methods
Payment providers connect through either:
- OAuth - Login directly with the payment provider
- API Keys - Enter credentials into our form
Each payment processor includes documentation with step-by-step instructions for obtaining API keys and configuring the connection. The system validates connectivity before saving any connection.
Environment Restrictions
Important security measures:
- Sandbox Shuttle accounts can only connect to test payment provider environments
- Live Shuttle accounts can only connect to live payment provider environments
- This prevents accidental processing of real payments in test environments or vice versa
Configuring a Payment Processor
Click on any connected payment provider to access processor-specific configuration options, including:
- Address verification settings
- Fraud prevention features
- Gateway-specific options
These options vary by payment processor.
Customizing Checkout
The system automatically determines all available payment methods across your connected providers and presents them as toggles. You can:
- Enable/disable each payment method
- Choose which processor to use when multiple support the same payment type
- Configure advanced filters using the settings cog icon
Payment Method Filters
Set sophisticated rules for each payment method:
- Minimum transaction amounts
- Maximum transaction amounts
- Currency-specific availability
Example use case: Disable card processing for transactions over $1,000 and only allow ACH for high-value payments.
Previewing Checkout
Test your checkout configuration without creating real transactions. The preview allows you to:
- See how checkout appears with different transaction types
- Test various currencies
- Verify address fields and other elements display correctly
- Ensure the checkout flow matches your requirements
