GoCardless

GoCardless is a bank payment specialist that collects funds directly from a
customer's bank account rather than through the card networks. It is built around
direct debit mandates and open banking, giving merchants a low-cost way to take
recurring and one-off bank payments across the UK, Eurozone, and several other
markets. This makes it a strong fit for subscriptions, invoicing, and any
recurring billing where card fees and expiries are a problem. Shuttle connects to
GoCardless over OAuth, so merchants can authorise the connection by logging in to
GoCardless without handling API credentials directly.

Payment methods

GoCardless is a bank-debit processor — there are no cards or digital wallets.
Through our GoCardless integration, merchants can accept:

• Bank debits: Bacs (UK), SEPA Direct Debit (Eurozone), ACH (US), BECS
  (Australia), BECS NZ (New Zealand), Autogiro (Sweden), Betalingsservice
  (Denmark), and PAD (Canada). Each scheme collects in its local currency, and the
  scheme used is determined by the payment currency.
• Instant Bank Pay: A one-off open banking bank transfer that confirms payment
  immediately at checkout, available for Bacs (UK) and SEPA (EU). It can be used on
  its own or to set up a Direct Debit mandate at the same time.

Instant Bank Pay is enabled per gateway in the GoCardless connection settings, and
each scheme must also be enabled on your GoCardless account.
