Moneris test cards
Use these details to try payments in a Moneris sandbox (test) account. They work only in the sandbox: never use them in live, and never put real card or bank details into a sandbox.
Moneris’ test environment approves or declines a payment mostly by the cents part of the amount: for example, 1.00 or 9.00 is approved because the cents are .00. Moneris says test payments must not be over 11.00, although its simulator pages give some results for larger amounts, shown below. Other merchants share the test environment, so you may see payments you didn’t make.
How to choose a test result
Section titled “How to choose a test result”- For most cards, the cents of the amount set the result; a few Visa cards always decline (Testing a Solution, Penny Value Simulator). Enter the amount in dollars and cents as usual, for example
1.00to approve or1.05to decline a Visa payment, and keep it at11.00or less. We send Moneris the amount exactly as entered. - For 3D Secure, switch on Enable 3D Secure in the Moneris connection settings here (Connecting Moneris), use the cards Moneris lists for use after 11 February 2026 (Testing 3-D Secure (MPI) Solutions), and pay online through the checkout: we don’t use 3D Secure for phone (MOTO) or recurring payments. The amount still sets the result after authentication, so use one ending in
.00. - We go ahead with a payment only when 3D Secure authentication succeeds, with or without a challenge. We decline every other 3D Secure result, including “attempted” and “unavailable”, with “3DS Authentication failed”, without asking Moneris to authorise the payment.
- The address (AVS) and CVC results can’t be tried here. Moneris’ simulator needs its shared test store
store5(CVD & AVS (E-Fraud) Simulator), and we don’t send the address to Moneris for an AVS check or act on the AVS or CVC result. Requires address (AVS) in the connection settings only makes the checkout ask for the billing address. Here, the simulator amounts show only whether the payment is approved or declined.
Moneris’ page doesn’t set an expiry date or CVC for these cards.

Declines and errors
Section titled “Declines and errors”For Visa, the cents of any amount from 0.00 to 9.99 set the result; for Mastercard, amounts from 0.00 to 9.00. American Express needs the exact amount shown. Moneris says the result for an amount it doesn’t list is unpredictable, and lists more amounts on its Penny Value Simulator page.
