USAePay test cards

Use these details to try payments in a USAePay sandbox (test) account. They work only in the sandbox: never use them in live, and never put real card or bank details into a sandbox.

You request a sandbox account through USAePay’s developer portal: see USAePay’s Sandbox System page. The sandbox simulates FDMS Nashville responses only, and it doesn’t support encrypted swipe or EMV testing on card terminals, though it does support unencrypted and manually keyed entries on them.

  • Tick Sandbox in the USAePay connection settings, so that we send payments to USAePay’s sandbox.
  • The card number sets the result: declines, address check results and CVC results each have their own card (Test Cards). Use the CVC given for each card in the checkout’s CVC field.
  • USAePay’s expiry date for its test cards, 09/24, has passed. Our own USAePay tests don’t call USAePay’s sandbox, so they can’t confirm a date that works: if the sandbox rejects 09/24 as expired, ask USAePay.
  • We only send a billing address to USAePay while Require address (AVS) is switched on in the connection settings, so switch it on when testing the address check cards.
  • For ACH, the account number, routing number or amount sets the result (Test ACH Data). Enter amounts at checkout as shown (for example 5.99): we send them to USAePay unchanged. Switch on Enable ACH / Bank Transfer in the connection settings and on your USAePay account first.

USAePay’s page gives the expiry date 09/24 for every card. That date has passed, so if the sandbox rejects it as expired, ask USAePay which date to use. Use the CVC shown in a row’s notes. For the other cards, USAePay gives the CVC 999, except the CVC-check cards, which take any CVC. USAePay lists more cards on its testing page.
