Affirm test cards

Use these details to try payments in an Affirm sandbox (test) account. They work only in the sandbox: never use them in live, and never put real card or bank details into a sandbox.

Affirm doesn’t use test card numbers. You test by going through Affirm’s sandbox checkout as a shopper, using the customer details below, then check the result in Affirm’s sandbox dashboard.

  • Turn on the Sandbox option in the Affirm gateway settings here, so that payments go to Affirm’s sandbox (Partner Test and Go-Live).
  • There are no test cards: complete Affirm’s checkout window as a shopper and the application is approved. Affirm doesn’t publish a way to get a declined application, so declines can’t be tested (Sandbox testing).
  • We pass the customer’s name, email address, mobile number and addresses from the checkout to Affirm, so enter them in the checkout. Affirm needs a valid US mobile number and a valid US address (Sandbox testing). We leave out a phone number that isn’t a valid US number, and send the name Anonymous if there isn’t one.
  • Enter the last four digits of the SSN and the verification code in Affirm’s checkout window, not in ours.

When Affirm’s checkout asks you to create an account, enter these. We have already passed the name, email address, mobile number and address from our checkout, so use the same values there.

Field What to enter
Name Any first and last name
Email Any email address in a valid format
Mobile phone A valid US mobile number. You don’t need access to it: the sandbox doesn’t send a text. Use the same number for every later test checkout.
Address A valid US address
Date of birth Any date that makes the customer older than 18
Last four digits of SSN 5678 (Affirm calls this the SSN bypass number). Affirm’s Sandbox testing page says any four digits work.
Verification code 123456 or 1234. Affirm’s pages give both, for different test flows.
Scenario Result
Complete Affirm’s checkout and select Confirm loan Approved: the charge shows as authorised in Affirm’s sandbox dashboard

Affirm’s sandbox always offers 3, 6 and 12 month terms. Affirm’s testing pages don’t list details that give a declined application.
