With Personalised Payment Links turned on, your staff create a payment link for a customer in the link generator: a page where they enter the amount, a reference and the customer’s details, and get a link for that one payment. The link generator opens in its own browser tab, so staff who create links often can bookmark it.

An Admin turns them on once for the account:

  1. Select Configure in the menu, then Configure under Payment Links.
  2. Under Personalised Payment Links, select Enable.

The page then says Personalised Payment Links are enabled.

  1. Select Payment Links in the menu.
  2. Select Create a Payment Link. The link generator opens in a new tab.

If personalised links are the only payment links on the account, selecting Payment Links in the menu opens the link generator straight away.

The link generator asks for:

  • Personalised Intro (optional): a message shown at the top of the payment page, for example what the payment is for
  • Amount (required): the currency and the amount
  • Reference (required): a reference saved with the payment
  • Customer ID (optional): if you enter one, the customer’s saved payment methods for that ID are offered
  • Customer First Name and Customer Last Name (optional)
  • Customer Email (optional): used for the email receipt

Note: If you don’t enter any customer details, the customer is asked to identify themselves with their email, name and phone number. If you enter any customer details, they aren’t asked, so include their email address if you want them to get an email receipt.

Select Create Link to create the payment link. You can then:

  • copy the link to send to your customer
  • open the link to see the payment page
  • Clone it, to create another link with the same details that you can change
  • Create Next Link, to start a new one
  • delete the link

Note: Payment links created in the link generator expire after 7 days.

Once the link is created, it shows “Waiting for customer”. When the customer opens the link, you can watch their progress through the payment as it happens.

Select history at the top of the link generator to see the links you’ve created recently. It shows up to 7 days of links created in your current browser, so you can find a link again if you closed it by mistake.

To turn them off, an Admin selects Disable under Personalised Payment Links in Configure > Payment Links.

Important: Disabling:

  • invalidates the current link generator address
  • breaks any bookmarks to it

If you turn them on again later, the link generator gets a new address, so you’ll need to share it and bookmark it again.
