Legal Entity Routes

A legal entity route maps a legal entity to a gateway, determining which payment processor handles transactions for that entity.

This is an enterprise feature for instances with multiple legal entities or gateways.

How Routing Works

When a payment is processed, Shuttle uses the legal entity route to determine:

  • Which gateway processes the transaction
  • Which currencies are accepted on that route
  • Which payment method types (VISA, Mastercard, ACH, etc.) are available

For simple setups with one legal entity and one gateway, routing is automatic. For complex setups, routes give you fine-grained control over payment flow.
