A legal entity route maps a legal entity to a gateway, determining which payment processor handles transactions for that entity.
This is an enterprise feature for instances with multiple legal entities or gateways.
How Routing Works
When a payment is processed, Shuttle uses the legal entity route to determine:
- Which gateway processes the transaction
- Which currencies are accepted on that route
- Which payment method types (VISA, Mastercard, ACH, etc.) are available
For simple setups with one legal entity and one gateway, routing is automatic. For complex setups, routes give you fine-grained control over payment flow.

LINKED | Route is active but hasn't been used yet |
ACTIVE | Route is in use |
INACTIVE | Route is no longer in use — no payments will use this connection |
RUNDOWN | Route is being phased out — no new payment methods, but saved cards from this gateway may continue to be used |
